This post was kind of a follow along to Storycrafting 4. I had not really looked at Propps Narramemes until I was editing this series of posts. It was basically free content to try it out, and it was a very surprisingly good fit.

Storycrafting 4 – Mapping Die with a Human Heart, Part 1

Vladimir Propps Narramemes

When I was writing Storycrafting 4, and read Vladimir Propps narramemes, I was even more surprised to see how many items DWHH mapped to, especially since this is an uberset of beats and not necessarily a single outline. Try mapping one of your stories to this and tell me what you think.

1st Sphere: Introduction

Steps 1 to 7 introduces the situation and most of the main characters, setting the scene for subsequent adventure.

4th Sphere: The Hero’s return

In the final (and often optional) phase of the storyline, the hero returns home, hopefully uneventfully and to a hero’s welcome, although this may not always be the case.
20. Return: Hero sets out for home THIS IS ACTUALLY IN THE BEGINNING OF THE STORY, NATHANIEL COMES HOME
