B&W Photos of the Mountains and Rivers I Haunt
Happy Birthday Beth!
No, seriously, take your time. Some of my best images are here. Bookmark it. Come back. When I look at these, sometimes I believe I might just have “the eye.”
And if you live in Seattle, chances are you’ve driven by half of these places without ever slowing down.

WOW!!! Some gorgeous work in here. You’ve got the eye! Have you printed these? Have a handful of favorites that stand out but that second one (with the light beaming through the clouds) is my current favorite, amazing!!!

The interesting thing is there are no B&W images in this post! I almost pointed that out. I took that sky picture precisely because it was such a monochromatic day.

I think I actually have printed that one out. That is one of 3 shots I’ve ever taken hand held with that camera. That one, the featured image, and this one: https://gointothelight.wordpress.com/2014/05/05/water-snow-rock-ice/#jp-carousel-3599, all taken within moments of each other while I was driving the shuttle leg of a Hurricane Ridge ski trip. The are all hanging in my hallway. But I really, really need to get back in the darkroom.

One of those snow shots I printed over 100x (first print in the new darkroom) and was never happy with it, but now I think there is a lot to do with getting the right paper for the print. And I should revisit.

Great set. I love the long exposures of the water.

Interesting. I’ve gone to 400 ASA just to get rid of those. Take a look at some of my images in the “Fail” post that I decided not to print just because of that.

Wow ! (Did I take long enough ? {:-) ) Amazing textures, overlapping layers live leaves unfurling. Some, actually many of those photos look like chocolate, rich ice cream when you scoop it and it curls back, dark chocolate when you make curls and it is smooth down the center and the edges are frayed…
